Karsons Pharmacy is seeking either a part-time for a full-time, friendly, confident, and patient-focused Medicines Counter Assistant to join our team. This frontline role is central to our mission of making every patient feel valued and supported. As an MCA, you will be the face of our pharmacy, and be the first person a patient meets. You will deliver excellent customer service, provide safe over-the-counter advice, ask the right questions to identify symptoms and red flags, and refer to the pharmacist when appropriate. You will help patients with prescription queries, signpost them to NHS and private services, and support the smooth running of the pharmacy during busy periods. Day-to-day duties include serving customers accurately at the till, maintaining a clean and organised counter area, managing OTC stock rotation and merchandising, supporting the dispensary team when needed, and promoting pharmacy products and services. We are looking for someone with an Medicines Counter Assistant qualification (or working towards it), and we will also consider applicants with previous experience in healthcare, beauty, or busy retail environments who can demonstrate strong communication, customer care, and organisational skills; the official MCA training course will be provided and required as part of the role. The ideal candidate will communicate clearly and kindly, organised and reliable, show strong attention to detail, and feel confident handling cash using tills, computer systems, and digital tools. You will fit well into our team if you are compassionate, bring a professional attitude, and committed to being part of our team. In return, you will join a supportive, family-run pharmacy, committed to innovation and constant improvement, offering opportunities for further training and progression, involvement in a wide range of pharmacy services, and a modern, forward-thinking environment. We're open to both full-time or part-time availability (12-37.5 hours per week), with working pattern including Saturday mornings. To apply, please email jobs@karsonspharmacy.co.uk with your CV, your earliest available start date, and a short written answer (4-5 sentences) to: “What does excellent patient care mean to you, and how would you demonstrate it at the pharmacy counter?” Applications without the short written answer will not be considered.
