About the roleWe are looking for a dedicated Teacher of Computing to join Ballakermeen High School's highly successful Computing Department. In 2025 the Computing team achieved 100% A*- C for year 11 iGCSE & SQA qualifications and 100% Distinction* - Merit at A2 BTEC. Whilst we are delighted with the outcomes achieved, we remain committed to making continual improvements.The department is well resourced and is made up of 4 teaching staff. The ability to teach Computing at Key stages 3-4 is essential and candidates will also have an interest in in developing experience teaching at Key Stage 5, with initial training support. Experience in teaching Computer Science is not considered essential but would be of interest, if held.At Ballakermeen, we believe that every second of learning counts. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to teach a lesson on the interview day and will have a tour of school, neither of which can take place remotely. Candidates should hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and meet the other essential criteria detailed in the Person Specification for the role.A workplace that invests in you✔ Newly qualified teachers will automatically start on a generous salary of £42,718 per annum (spine point M4).✔ A competitive salary that increases each 12 months until you reach the salary maximum.✔ Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, you will be offered two pensions arrangements: the or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) arrangement.✔ If you are returning to the island and have participated in the Department's Student Loan scheme for tuition fees, the loan will be repaid by the Department upon completion of your second year working as a teacher at one of the island's schools. The repayment is subject to a maximum of £7,500 for a three year degree course or £10,000 for a four year degree course, and the requirements detailed in the .✔ If you are an Early Career Teacher, you will receive payments of £2,000 at the beginning of your first and second school years in teaching, following the completion of the ECT induction period (2 years).✔ Financial support to get you, your family and your belongings, including one motor vehicle to the Isle of Man. We will pay 70% of any removal or storage costs incurred.✔ Help to pay your rent/mortgage while you settle in with a housing allowance up to £500 per month over 2 years.✔ If you are relocating to the Isle of Man, you will receive financial help towards the costs of visiting to the Island to view housing and to visit your new school.
